1. To communicate honestly, tempered with compassion, to help you to recognize areas that may need improvement.
2. To keep confident anything
we discuss (within legal limits).
3. To be patient, supportive, and encourage you to work toward achieving your goals.
4. To keep our appointment time (exceptions being an emergency).
5. To rejoice with you
when you succeed! And to point out success that you may not have recognized.
6. To be honest with you when something is beyond my ability. I will make suggestions and give you referrals. This won't necessarily
mean we will have to stop working together. In some cases, however; there could be times when another helping professionals assistance is needed. Please respect my opinion as to my limitations. We all have them.
7. To understand that emergencies arise for all of us. Please offer me the same courtesy.
8. To give you "homework" and inquire as to your progress during our next session.
9. To remind you that you are in
charge of our time together. I will encourage your constant input regarding our work together.
10. To listen totally to what you are saying.
